Workshop Leader :

Elder Patricia Osterhoudt

Patricia Osterhoudt, C.A.R.C., C.R.P.A., I.T.S.C. is a Family Service Recovery Coach and Narcan Training Coordinator at Foundations Recovery Community Center in Nanuet, New York.

Patricia is an Elder and Deaconess of Brook Presbyterian Church and member of the Ramapo Munsee Nation, Hillburn, New York. Patricia is a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate, Addiction Recovery Coach, IThirst Spiritual Companion, S.M.A.R.T. Recovery Facilitator, Community Reinforcement and Family Training (C.R.A.F.T) Facilitator, and Wellbriety White Bison Warrior Down Recovery Coach.

Patricia is a person in recovery from Substance Use Disorder and entered the field of recovery following her personal experience of losing a loved one to Overdose. She realized through her own experience that navigating the turbulent waters of Substance Use Recovery, Fentanyl Overdose and Substance Use related death, is a very confusing and lonely journey. Substance Misuse Education is our first tool in fighting the Disease of Addiction.  During Patricia’s first experience with Narcan, someone had the lifesaving medication that could reverse an Opioid overdose but had no knowledge of how it was to be used or how it should have been stored. In Patricia’s search for understanding, she found a passion for Narcan Education and training. Her personal mission is to have Substance Use Education for all clergy and church patrons. Her loved one sought his recovery through his faith and was welcomed by his church family.  Although they had limited knowledge of Substance Use Disorder, they were steadfast in their commitment to the teachings of Matthew 25 to assist him in his journey.  Patricia believes the people fighting their personal battles with Substance Use Disorder want to remain invisible; they feel ashamed and judged. It’s time to invite them to sit in our pews were love, compassion, & understanding allows the tools of recovery to be applied for living success.

For Ministers of the Word and Sacrament to feel free to attend Come to the Table and remain through Sunday, the Synod will livestream the worship service from Silver Bay on Sunday. This will allow congregations to worship even if their pastor is at Come to the Table. This weekend is always beautiful at Silver Bay with the trees in full fall colors. We hope to see you there.
