The 54th session of the annual United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will be held from March 1-12, 2010 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. For the past five years, Presbyterian Women has led a delegation to the CSW and the Presbyterian UN Office is extending the invitation more widely. This year is particularly momentous, as it marks the 15-year anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action established in 1995 as a milestone document on women’s human rights. As a part of the organization Ecumenical Women at the United Nations, Presbyterians will join faith-based representatives from around the world in continuing our legacy of support for the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action.

An Ecumenical orientation co-sponsored by the Presbyterian Church (USA) will be held on February 27, 2010 at the Church Center for the United Nations. Delegates will receive an introduction to the structures and processes for engagement at the United Nations, and an overview of the theme for this year’s CSW.
An application form for registration as a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) delegation to the CSW is attached, along with additional information about the conference. At this time there is no restriction on the size of the PC(USA) delegation, though we request that applications be submitted by February 15, 2010.
